With Two Hundred New Illustrations by Thomas McIlvaine. 7.5" x 5.25", 435 + 420pp. Green cloth with gilt titling and blue Arabesque/Art Nouveau decorations. Light rubbing to cloth, notably near head/tail of spines. "Manning" written in pen on each FFEP. Hinges secure and textblocks clean. Very Good+.

Thomas McIlvaine was an American illustrator known for his finely detailed work in late 19th-century book design, with a particular talent for depicting exotic and romantic subjects. His illustrations for editions of Arabian Nights vividly portrayed palaces, markets, and fantastical scenes, capturing the atmosphere and charm of the tales. Through his careful line work and composition, he helped define how many readers of the period imagined the world of Scheherazade.
