Publisher’s black cloth, spine lettered in gilt and white; original first-state dust jacket present. Jacket with edgewear, rubbing, and shallow chipping at spine ends and upper panel, including loss at upper right corner; unclipped and still attractive. Book itself clean and sound with light shelfwear only, binding tight and internally fresh. Ownership inscription on FFEP. Very Good in Good+ jacket.
The landmark first trade appearance of the Strunk & White collaboration that became the most influential American style manual of the twentieth century. While Strunk’s original text had circulated privately for decades, it was White’s 1959 revision and expansion that transformed it into a standard reference for writers, editors, and students alike. First printings in jacket remain the copies most sought after.
