Robert Shackleton (1860–1923) was a journalist and travel writer best known for his “The Book of…” series issued by Penn Publishing in the 1910s. His volumes combined anecdotal detail, cultural history, and observation, presenting European and American cities in an accessible style for armchair travelers. While not rare, his books are valued today for their period charm and often handsome decorative bindings.
