"Life & Deeds of General Grant" by Frank A. Burr [A.E. Davis & Co, 1885]. Salesman Sample. Olive cloth with black & gilt front cover pictorial designs and an embosses back cover of similar design. To enhance the selling efforts, samples of the three binding options are pasted inside the covers - the first matches the one shown on the exterior of this book and the other two are luxury leather options. The inside contains dozens and dozens of illustrations, several sample chapters, and a (still blank) 18-pg order log in the back for the salesperson to capture orders. Webbing showing at front hinge; back hinge is still solid. Shelfwear to all corners but most notably the bottom front and back edges. Foxing on frontispieces but interior quite clean. Overall, Good+ and scarce.
