PRICE, Ruth A. Nebraska Wild Flowers.

Fairbury, NE: Ruth A. Price, 1898. 10" x 7.75". String-tied paper wrappers, front cover titled in a decorative hand. A manuscript herbarium of 12 mounted specimens, each paired with a printed poetic caption; specimens hand-labeled in manuscript at lower margins. Light staining and toning to wrappers with some edge wear. Wear to lower right corner, as pictured. Contents generally clean with typical offsetting from pressed plants; string binding intact. Very Good.

A carefully assembled late 19th-century Midwestern herbarium documenting wild flora collected in Jefferson County, Nebraska. Each of the 12 specimens is mounted directly to the page and paired with short printed verse, with the samples identified in a contemporary hand. The selection includes ferns and flowering plants, offering a localized snapshot of prairie and woodland species at the close of the century. Survival in this format is inherently fragile, and examples with intact specimens and original bindings are uncommon.
