Publisher’s green pictorial cloth gilt and black stamped, issued as part of Lothrop’s Library of Entertaining History, with decorative alpine-themed cover design and gilt spine lettering. A well-produced nineteenth-century popular history of Switzerland, combining accessible historical narrative with abundant engravings of Alpine scenery, architecture, and national legend. These Lothrop cloth bindings display especially well, and this series has a reliable collector base among buyers of decorative Victorian travel and juvenile history books.
