"The Book of the Dead" translated by E.A. Wallis Budge [Kegan Paul, Trench, Trubner & Co, 1901]. Complete in Three Volumes. With Four Hundred and Twenty vignettes. xcvi + 702pp + (massive!) 96pp publisher's catalogue in rear. Originally published as part of a longer series, "Books on Egypt and Chaldea". Given that Budge first published his translation in 1895, this is an incredibly early copy and one of the earliest on the market. Each volume has foxed endpapers but clean textblocks. Both hinges of Vol 1 and the rear hinge of Vol 2 are starting. Vol 1 & 2 have soiling on their spines, as pictured. Vol 3 rear board has a damaged upper corner and Vols 1 & 2 each have a black small black stain on rear board. Overall, Good+ bordering on Very Good- and a highly sought after set.
