[ANONYMOUS]. Handwritten Arabic Devotional Treatise.
Dated AH 1208 (1794 CE). Manuscript on laid paper, 7.75" x 4", 125pp. Written in a consistent hand in black and red ink throughout. Text comprising prayers, moral exhortations, invocations, and devotional reflections in Classical Arabic prose. Concludes with Qur’anic passages including Sūrat al-Fātiḥah, al-Ikhlāṣ, al-Falaq, and al-Nās. Final page richly illuminated in gold and color within a lobed cartouche on a cobalt ground with red floral elements; gold appears hand-applied. Occasional marginal inscriptions in Arabic script, including several personal names. Later full leather over boards (likely 19th century), the leather with large natural grain and no surface embossing. Binding shows wear consistent with age and use; some rubbing and surface marks; manuscript complete and fully legible. Very Good.
A complete and explicitly dated late-eighteenth-century Arabic devotional manuscript. The illuminated concluding leaf, though integral to the volume as preserved, may have been executed or added at a slightly later date. The combination of dated text, hand illumination, and later protective leather binding presents a compact and attractive example of personal devotional manuscript production in the late Ottoman period.
