Illustrated with in-text wood engravings and vignette title-page illustration. Corners and spine ends rubbed with small losses to cloth at extremities; spine gilt dulled but legible. Light scattered foxing and occasional spots to text, heavier to a few leaves; tissue guard present before frontispiece. Binding sound. Good+.

The contents include several of Andersen’s most enduring tales, among them “The Tinder-Box,” “The Resolute Leaden Soldier,” and “Little Ida’s Flowers,” each accompanied by expressive woodcut illustrations that retain strong visual appeal despite their small scale.
