Pale green cloth, upper cover and spine lettered in gilt, upper cover with mounted pictorial onlay. Ownership inscription dated 1910 to front endpaper. Noticeable moisture staining and spotting to boards, most heavily at lower edge and corners; mounted pictorial onlay partially lacking at lower right corner but still visually appealing; rubbing and wear at extremities with some darkening to spine. Interior toned with scattered foxing and handling wear. Hinges cracked. Good.

An early printing of Montgomery’s best-known work, still retaining the desirable original Page format with mounted pictorial panel and period gift inscription from the year of publication. Even with the condition issues, these early impressions remain highly collectible for the iconic cover design alone.
