The principal English-language edition of Marx's economic masterpiece issued by the Soviet state publishing apparatus during the Cold War. Edited from the standard Engels-prepared texts and produced for international distribution, these Moscow printings were intended to disseminate Marxist economic theory to English-speaking readers throughout the world. As such, they represent not merely a reprinting of Capital but a notable artifact of Soviet publishing and ideological outreach during the Khrushchev era.
