Milwaukee: The Settlement Cook Book Co., 1926. Fifteenth edition, enlarged and revised. 7.5" x 5.5", xxxii + 624pp (including many ads) with one additional color full page ad for Swans Down Cake Flour. Publisher's cream coated cloth, lettered and illustrated in black. Thumb-index edition. Light soiling to the cloth with several stains to the rear cover and spine, light rubbing at the extremities, and mild toning to the spine. Thin cracks to the coating along joints but holding tight. Binding square and sound. Interior clean with light, even toning. Thumb-index tabs complete and intact. Very Good.

One of the most successful American cookbooks ever published, The Settlement Cook Book grew out of Milwaukee's settlement house movement and became a staple in Midwestern kitchens for generations. Combining hundreds of tested recipes with practical household advice, it helped standardize home cooking during the early twentieth century and remained in print through countless editions.

This enlarged 1926 fifteenth edition includes extensive sections on breads, cakes, meats, preserves, salads, candies, beverages, and entertaining, together with menu planning, nutrition, and household management. Its durable thumb-index format made it a practical working reference, and today it remains an enduring classic of American culinary history.
