JUSTER, Norton. The Phantom Tollbooth.
New York: Random House, 1965. 8.5" x 5.75", 256pp, illustrated throughout by Jules Feiffer. Original pictorial boards in publisher’s dust jacket. Jacket shows moderate wear with rubbing and chipping at spine ends and corners, some edgewear and light soiling; not price-clipped. Boards beneath remain clean and bright. Binding sound. Inscribed by the author on the half-title: “For Connie & David Povich and their children best wishes, Norton Juster.” Interior clean with light, even toning. Very Good in Good jacket.
An early printing of Juster’s classic work of imaginative children’s literature, distinguished here by a warm, personal inscription from the author. Jules Feiffer’s distinctive illustrations remain bold and expressive throughout. Signed copies of The Phantom Tollbooth are consistently sought after, particularly those with personalized inscriptions, which lend a direct connection to one of the most enduring works of twentieth-century children’s fiction.
