Complete in Four Volumes, originally part of a larger set of Dumas's Complete Works. 8.25" x 5.75", 394 + 396 + 402 + 452pp, with 16 plates by Edmund H. Garrett. Dark blue cloth with paper spine labels and gilt top edges. Deckled fore and bottom edges. Labels chipped/toned, heads/tails of spine cloth a bit rubbed, and Vol 4 with repaired damage to rear upper corner (pictured). Each with a small sticker inside front cover indicating this set is from the library of Irving L'Hommedieu. All hinge secure and textblocks unfoxed. Very Good-.

Irving L’Hommedieu was a prominent lawyer and civic leader in Buffalo, New York, remembered as the “father of the system of state taxation and licensing of motor cars.” His personal library, which included fine editions such as this set of The Count of Monte Cristo, reflected his wide-ranging interests in literature and the arts.

Edmund H. Garrett (1853–1929) was an American illustrator celebrated for his detailed and atmospheric work in classic literature, particularly historical and adventure novels. His illustrations for The Count of Monte Cristo are noted for their dramatic composition and careful attention to period detail, enhancing Dumas’ story with visual depth and elegance.
