Finely bound in full crimson prize calf, covers with elaborate gilt border rolls and central gilt armorial crest of “Schola Regia Granthamiensis” (Grantham School), spine richly gilt in compartments with floral tools and black morocco title label lettered in gilt. All edges marbled to match the marbled endpapers. Awarded as a Grantham School prize (bookplate to front pastedown, inscribed to “Jackson, Primus” for French and Latin, signed by the Head Master). Binding secure but with a yawn. Endpapers foxed. Gilt bright and well-preserved; light rubbing to extremities and minor surface marks to boards; text clean. A handsome institutional prize binding. Very Good.
