MACKEY, Albert G. The Symbolism of Freemasonry: Illustrating and Explaining Its Science and Philosophy, Its Legends, Myths, and Symbols.

Chicago: The Charles T. Powner Co., 1975 reprint. 8" x 5.25", original blue cloth gilt, publisher’s reprint of Mackey’s classic nineteenth-century study of Masonic symbolism and ritual philosophy. Ownership label and retained business card of Roland D. Williams, identified as Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Prince Hall Grand Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons, Prince Hall Affiliation, District of Columbia, with his Washington, D.C. address and Grand Lodge office card laid in. Light rubbing at extremities, a few minor bumps, binding sound and internally clean. Very Good.

Association copy from the library of M.W. Grand Master Roland D. Williams, who served as Grand Master of the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia in 1987–1988 and for whom the Roland D. Williams Center for Masonic Excellence was later named. Mackey’s work remains one of the foundational texts of American Masonic interpretation, tracing the symbolic language of Freemasonry through comparative religion, classical myth, biblical history, and the ancient mystery traditions. A strong copy with meaningful Prince Hall provenance and direct Washington, D.C. relevance.
