The Reynolds Library in Rochester, New York, was founded in 1884 through the bequest of Mortimer F. Reynolds, a prominent local banker and philanthropist. It opened to the public in 1886 in the historic Reynolds Arcade, serving as one of the city’s major cultural and educational institutions. The library’s circulating collection emphasized history, science, and literature, and many of its holdings were later absorbed into the Rochester Public Library system.
